Citing the ʿAbbasid caliph al-Mustadi bi-amr Allah (AH 566-575 / AD 1170-1180), ‘Allāh / lā ilāha illā / waḥdahū lā sharīka lahū / al-Mustaḍī bi-amr Allāh / amīr al-muʾminīn’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him. al-Mustadi bi-amr Allah, Commander of the Believers’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘bism Allāh ḍuriba hādhā al-dirham bi Ḥalab sana arbaʿ wa sabʿīn wa khamsa miʾa’ (‘In the name of Allah. This dirham was struck in Halab in the year 574’ in Arabic). Rev. ‘Allāh / Muḥammad rasūl / ṣalla Allāh ʿalayh / al-malik al-Ṣāliḥ / Ismāʿīl ibn Maḥmūd’ (‘Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
